Post-UTME Admission Requirements: General Eligibility & Cut-Off Marks

To apply for admission into Abubakar Toyin University, you must meet three important conditions. Think of these as three steps you must complete. If you miss one step, your application will not be successful. Let us look at each step in detail.

Step 1: Your JAMB UTME Score

This is the score from your national university entrance examination. The university has set a minimum score that you must have. You need a score of 160 or more. If your score is lower than 160, you cannot apply.

For example: If a student has a score of 159, that student is not eligible. But if a student has a score of 160 or 200, that student can move to the next step.

Step 2: Your O’Level Results

Your O’Level results are from your secondary school exams like WAEC or NECO. You must have a credit pass in five (5) different subjects. It is very important that these five credits include both English Language and Mathematics. These two subjects are compulsory and cannot be replaced.

For example: If a student has credits in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Geography, but has a ‘D’ in English, that student is not eligible. The student must have a credit in both English and Mathematics.

Step 3: Your First Choice of University

This is a very simple but important rule. When you filled your JAMB form, you listed universities you wanted to attend. Abubakar Toyin University will only accept your application if you chose them as your First Choice institution. If you did not, you must go to a JAMB office or an accredited center to change it

Direct Entry (DE) Admission Requirements: Basic Eligibility & Accepted Qualifications

you need a good foundation from your secondary school. You must have at least five credit passes in your O’Level exams (like WAEC, NECO, or similar).

English Language and Mathematics must be included. You can combine two exam sittings to get these five credits.

Example:

Sitting 1 (WAEC): Credits in English, Biology, Chemistry.

Sitting 2 (NECO): Credits in Mathematics and Physics.

This is acceptable because you have the five credits, including English and Math.

Next, you must also have one of these higher qualifications:

A-Level / IJMB / JUPEB: You need good passes in two subjects related to the university course you want.

For example, to study Engineering, you should have passes in Physics and Mathematics.

National Diploma (ND): You need a good grade (Upper Credit or Credit) from a recognized Polytechnic.

Your ND program must be related to the course you are applying for.

NCE: You need a Credit grade from a College of Education in the subjects you want to study.

Finally, you must buy the current JAMB Direct Entry form and select our university as your first choice.

This is very important for your application to be considered.
