your screening steps, and your documents you will feel more prepared and less stressed.

Many students lose opportunities not because they are not smart but because they do not understand the admission rules early enough.

For example a student may score well in UTME but fail to upload the correct documents or someone with strong O’Level grades may miss the screening date.

Small mistakes like these can stop your admission and this is why a clear explanation is important.

This guide will show you in plain and easy English, how to apply to Pan-Atlantic University through UTME or Direct Entry.

It will also explain the screening process and list all the documents you must prepare.

With the right information, your admission journey becomes much easier and more successful.

Post-UTME, O’Level Admission Requirements: General Eligibility & Cut-Off Marks

Your JAMB UTME Score

The first thing we check is your JAMB score. You need a minimum score of 160 from your UTME examination. Think of it like a key that opens the first door. For example, if your score is 159, the door stays locked. But if your score is 160, 180, or higher, you can move to the next step. This score shows you have a good basic knowledge for university studies.

Your O’Level Subjects

Your secondary school results are very important. You must have at least five (5) credit passes in subjects you finished. These five credits must include both Mathematics and English Language. You cannot change this rule. For instance, having credits in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Geography, and Economics is excellent, but it is not acceptable without credits in English and Maths. These two subjects are essential for all our courses.

University of First Choice

This is a very important step that many students forget. You must tell JAMB that we are your top choice. This means you must officially select New City University as your “First Choice Institution” in the JAMB portal or at a JAMB office. If you choose another university as your first choice, we will not see your application. It is like having a ticket for a bus; if you are not on our bus list, you cannot get on, no matter how good your score is.

Who Can Apply for Direct Entry?

Direct Entry is for students who have studied beyond secondary school. It allows you to join the university at a higher level, so you do not start from year one. You must have qualifications like A-Levels, a National Diploma (ND), or a Higher National Diploma (HND).

Requirements to Join in 200 Level

If you have an ND, NCE, or two A-Level passes, you can apply to start from the second year (200 Level). Your result must be good. For example, if you have a National Diploma, you need at least a Lower Credit or higher. If you have an A-Level in a subject like Biology and Chemistry, you can study a related course like Biochemistry.

Requirements to Join in 300 Level

If you have a Higher National Diploma (HND), you can apply to start from the third year (300 Level). You also need at least a Lower Credit in your final HND result. For instance, an HND in Accounting with a Lower Credit can allow you to join the Accounting degree program in the third year.

The Most Important Step for All DE Candidates

No matter your qualification, you must take one official action. You must buy and fill the JAMB Direct Entry form for the 2025/2026 academic session. Without this JAMB form, the university cannot process your application, even if you have all the other qualifications.

Getting Your Documents Ready for Screening

Think of this like preparing your important papers for a very important journey. You cannot travel without your passport and tickets. For university screening, these are your tickets.

Your JAMB Result Slip

This is your proof that you wrote the exam and got a good score. You must bring the original one you printed from the JAMB portal. A screenshot on your phone will not work. They need to see the real paper.

Your O’Level Results

This is your WAEC, NECO, or similar certificate. You must have the original copy! The officials will look at it to confirm you have your five credits, especially English and Maths. If you used two exam bodies, you must carry both original certificates. They are like your academic passport.

Your Recent Passport Photograph

You need a fresh photo on a white background. Don’t use an old one from last year. They will use this new photo to make your student ID card if you get in. So, smile nicely!

Proof of Your Age

You need to show how old you are. The best paper for this is your Birth Certificate. If you don’t have one, you can go to a court and get a sworn affidavit for “Declaration of Age.” It does the same job.

Your Local Government Letter

This is a letter from your local government headquarters. It proves which state and local government area you are from. You have to go home to get this letter from the local government secretariat. It is very important for your file.
